Pointed Practices

03/07/08

By Keegan

Coming to practice with a plan keeps you focused on the task at hand.  Too often we design a jumbled mess of dribbling, passing, shooting, goal keeping, and fitness all packed into one session.  This is very confusing for the player and the coach.  The player is to busy working on ten different aspects of the game and as a result does not master any aspect of the game.  The coach gets so caught up in correcting all the mistakes that they are left with little time to really refine the technique.

Keep your practices focused.  If you plan on working on dribbling do it for the entirety of practice.  It keeps the kids focused on one single task that will develop their game further.  Check out www.usyouthsoccer.org under coaches connection and you will find some great practice plans for all age groups.
