Abby Wambach, one of the greatest active female soccer players in the world, will be making a special appearance at the 2nd Annual Women's Soccer Celebration on May 15th at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Wambach, who led the US Women's National Team in the 2007 World Cup, ranked 5th in 2007 in the FIFA World Player of the Year balloting. Wambach's former team and defending W-league champions, the Washington Freedom, will be playing the Fort Collins Force in the first game of a double header with the Colorado Rapids.

ABOUT THE WOMEN'S SOCCER CELEBRATION
|
|
Events that recognize the past, present and future of women's soccer are set to unfold on May 15, when the 2nd Annual Women's Soccer Celebration takes the stage at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Action will feature a double-header, highlighting the best women's and men's soccer leagues in North America, as well as an opportunity to train and visit with world-class players.
4:30 p.m. W-League champion Washington Freedom vs The Fort Collins Force.
6:15-7:15 p.m. Clinic and Autograph Session featuring Abby Wambach, Fort Collins Force players, & Washinton Freedom players
7:30 p.m. Major League Soccer rivals Colorado Rapids vs Real Salt Lake.

It is with great pleasure that we are able to bring Abby Wambach to Colorado for all of our fans to meet and wish her well as she leads our US National team to victory in the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, China!
Our Women's Soccer Celebration is about supporting women's soccer as a viable spectator sport and celebrating the accomplishments of our sport in North America. Do you know that there are over 41 franchises in the W-League and that our teams collectively attract and reach over 120,000 soccer fans each summer season? Additioanlly, there are 50 teams in the Women's Premier Soccer League, and 8 teams scheduled to begin play in 2009 in the new professional league, Women's Professional Soccer (WPS.) There has never been such a promising time for women's soccer, we look forward to having our young players learn from and be inspired by these women as they take the field in the best soccer stadium in the nation!
